GN Centrifugal Pump to Deliver Drilling Fluids

With stable performance and long service
life, GN SB series centrifugal pump is designed to deliver abrasive, viscous,
corrosive media, especially drilling fluids and industrial slurry. The pump can
handle large volume flow up to 320m3/h, withstand high temperature, and
remarkably save energy, but is easy to maintain. Currently, GN centrifugal
pumps are operating widely both on onland and offshore drilling rigs around the

The housing of GN centrifugal pump is thicker,
heavier and solider because of the special strength when compared with
conventional pumps, thus enjoying a more durable and longer service life.

The annular flow channel inside the housing
will eliminate turbulence and cavitation, also reduce radial load on the
bearing. The housing gasket is recessed to prevent fluids from leaving the
impeller. In oil and gas field, centrifugal pumps are mainly used as feeding
pumps to desander, desilter or mud cleaner, mud mixing pump, and supercharging
pump to mud pump. Regarding to the first application, the liquids discharged
from shale shaker will be delivered to the desander, desilter or mud cleaner by
the centrifugal pump, always horizontally installed on the skid of mud tanks.
To the second, the chemical will be added when the centrifugal pump discharges
the fluids out, usually fixed below the mud mixing hopper, also on the skid of
tank. For the third, the centrifugal pump will be used as supercharging pump
for mud pumps.

Drilling mud purifications
is the basic to insure the function of drilling bit works properly and safely
for both oil rig equipments and many operators working around the clock in the
drilling field. Needless to say, it is a
very costly operation if one or many steps of drilling operation go wrong, It
will leads operation cost of drilling rig go double in very short amount of
time that leads to increases of operation cost and late leads to increase the
production cost of oil.

The first level of purification

The mud feed in the shale shaker. The allocation drilling fluid
enter into the bottom of the drilling well under the foundation of the drilling pump
and carry drilling debris return the ground,
through the feeding enter into the shale shaker, the larger solid debris in drilling fluid are filtered through shale
shaker screen.

The second level of purification

When drilling fluid have debris and also contain gas, The use of vacuum degasser remove the gas which in the
drilling fluid and can recover the density of drilling fluid, calm the drilling fluid viscosity.

The third level
of purification

The drilling fluid is disposed by two level purification enter into the desander. Through the desander feed into the liquid pump, the harmful sold phase which the diameter
is above 40-60um is separated in desander.

The fourth level of purification

The drilling fluid is disposed by the three level purification enter into the desilter
through the desilter feed into the liquid pump, the harmful sold phase which the diameter is above
15-40um is separated in desilter

The fifth level of purification

The drilling is disposed by the four level purification enter into the decanter centrifuge through the centrifugal feed liquid pump, the
small harmful sold phase particles are separated in decanter centrifuge

GN Solids Control dispatching equipment to overseas market

Recently, GN Solids Control just dispatch one set
solids control equipment to
overseas market, Middle East country. The end user is Middle East horizontal
directional drilling contractor with over 10 sets HDD drilling rigs. After they
come to Beijing and inspection GN factory, they releaser order for one batch of
equipment. The solids control equipment includes:

6 sets centrifugal pump for mixing/ transferring
drilling mud. Electrical control panel with necessary cables is also included.

2 sets shale shaker for drilling mud first phase
separation. The shaker is GN popular 3 panel shaker GNZS703.

2 sets mud cleaner for drilling mud second and
third phase separation. The mud cleaner with 2pcs desander cones and 12pcs
desilter cones is working well at customer’s drilling rig site now. Down deck
shaker is same as GNZS703.

2 pcs mud hopper with size about 1100 X 680 size.

8 pcs mud agitator to
mount on mud tanks to agitating and suspending the drilling mud.

8 pcs mud gun work together with drilling mud
agitator.

4 pcs mud tanks similar size to 20ft container
for storage drilling mud. The customer already have some tanks for recycling the drilling mud.

customer is professional enough for the rig up. If the customer have questions,

Big Bowl Decanter Centrifuge Used for HDD Mud Recycling System

In a common and normal and most cases’ HDD mud recycling unit or systems, there
are separation equipment like shale shaker and desander cones, and a jet mud
mixer for mixing new material into it. But seldom centrifuges used for an HDD
mud system.

In a recent order of GN, China CPP ordered 8 sets of highest
standard 500GPM mud recycling system combined by 2 tanks. One tank is for shale shaker and desanders, the other is
for 2 sets of centrifuges. But the centrifuge tank and the application of the 2
centrifuges are for option, not only mean that this design is for option, but
also that on jobsite work, the operators could choose to use the centrifuges or
not, in order to get different standard fine mud.

These centrifuges are big bowl centrifuges of 18 inch
diameter bowl, which was economic configuration model in GN’s centrifuge family and was designed at a
middle speed of 1800RPM and used mostly in solids control systems for oil
and gas drilling for barite recovery. In this design of the HDD system, it
is used for separate out the particles larger than 2 microns and was customized
to have a VFD control panel to enable the speed to be in range of 0 to 1800
RPM.

In the standard high configuration designs of GNMS-200G,
GNMS500G and GNMS-1000G systems, there are separation equipments like shale
shaker, desander, desilter and mixing devices like jet mud mixer. But if you
think the centrifuge is necessary per your jobsite, we could recommend the most
suitable centrifuge for you. We have 9 inch, 14 inch, 18 inch and 22 inch bowl
diameter centrifuge for option. And for the most popular model GNLW363 14 inch
bowl decanter centrifuge, GN has both fixed speed and VFD control panels
available. For other size decanter centrifuges, some are designed for fixed
speed while some are VFD controlled, but they all have another optional choice.
